Helicopter Carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Crashed in Northern Iran

President Raisi travelled to northern Iran today to inaugurate a dam together with the President of Azerbaijan The area can be extremely foggy and the weather conditions are not always suitable for helicopters.

In addition to President Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian was also on board the helicopter.

According to Fars News Agency a rescue helicopter attempted to land near the site of President Raisi’s accident, but had to return. The fog in the area is very thick and the horizontal visibility is less than 5 meters. Horizontal visibility in the area is less than 5 meters, severely hampering rescue efforts.

The weather in the area of the accident is not helping the rescue operation as seen in this Video.

The 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade, trained in jungle warfare, has been deployed near the site of the helicopter accident.

Tasnim News reported that the European Union has activated its rapid response satellites to help the Iranian authorities find President Raisi’s helicopter.
