Taliban Capture Key ISKP Network in Kabul, Foil ISIS Plot

Major Operation in Kabul’s Fifth District

According to Hindukash.com, a media outlet run by the Taliban’s intelligence agency, General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), Taliban security forces have discovered a center of the ISKP ( Islamic State Khorasan Province ) group in the fifth district of Kabul city.

ISKP-Operation Details

Based on the report of this media, the Taliban security forces conducted an operation on a center of the IS-KP group in the fifth district last Wednesday and arrested a number of members of this network. Although the exact number of arrested IS-KP members has not been disclosed, a large number of weapons, explosives, and ammunition were also found from the said center.

Foiled Attack on Muharram Ceremony

The members of this network planned to attack the Muharram ceremony. However, before the ceremony, the Taliban security forces were able to discover the center and prevent the attacks.

The person in charge of this center is Afghan and he was recruited to ISKP in Pakistan. He married a Pakistani woman in Baluchistan and was returned to Afghanistan for terrorist attacks.

Connection to Previous Attacks

According to this source, among the captured Daesh members are also those who attacked the car of a Shia rider in the Quetta Sangi area of Kabul city a few months ago. A list of arrested Daesh militants was also obtained, who intended to attack some religious scholars, madrassas, and prominent anti-government politicians in Pakistan. These individuals targeted people in other countries besides Afghanistan as well.
