TTP Recruits Suicide Bombers from Durand Line Area

Reports reveal that the Hafiz Gul Bahadur-led faction of Pakistani Taliban (TTP) is recruiting suicide bombers from Waziristani refugee madrasas in Khost and Paktika provinces. Recently, Hafiz Gul Bahadur visited the “Shaheed Ikramullah Aqabi” madrasa in Khost, delivering a speech under strict security measures.

The group’s notorious suicide brigade, Jaish Umari, is said to be recruiting fighters from this madrasa. This brigade has been involved in numerous deadly attacks on Pakistani military outposts since 2023. Other militant units under the Gul Bahadur faction, such as Farisan Muhammad and Ghaziano Caravan, are also active in organizing suicide attacks and targeted killings.

The Afghan Taliban reportedly attempted to curb these activities, warning of arrests if militants were seen fundraising in mosques. However, efforts to control these groups seem to have been largely ineffective.

The growing collaboration between Pakistani Taliban factions and Afghan fighters poses an increasing security threat in the region.
